An early morning fire destroys a home in Fairmont Monday.

The fire occurred at 1104 4th Street at 4:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Fairmont Fire Department, Fairmont Police Department and Marion County Emergency Medical Service all responded to the fire.  Officials said the State Fire Marshal was also called in.

The fire took one hour to get the flames under control and three hours to get everything put out.

Three shifts of the Fairmont FD were called to put out the fire, officials said.

No one was at the home during the fire and officials said it is not clear whether anyone lives at the residence or not.

Two fire fighters were taken to Fairmont General Hospital after sustaining injuries while putting out the fire. Officials said one fire fighter was released and another remains at the hospital.

Surrounding residents were evacuated from their homes and some of the homes near the house were damaged by the heat.

Fairmont Fire Chief James Emerick has deemed the fire as suspicious.  He's called the State Fire Marshal in to investigate.
