The West Virginia Department of Natural Resources and the Tucker County Sheriff's Department are investigating a kayaking accident that happened at Blackwater Falls State Park on Sunday.
Robert A. Norr, 20, from Gaithersburg, Md. was kayaking with five other kayakers on Jan. 8 when he attempted to navigate Flat Liner Falls on the Blackwater River near Davis at approximately 12:15 p.m., according to a field report from the WVDNR Law Enforcement Section.
Norr was pinned under a rock but his kayak surfaced. Emergency Medical Services and Davis Fire Department responded but was unable to recover him until approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday, officials said.
Officials said he will be transported to Davis Memorial and then to Charleston for an autopsy.
Natural Resource Police Officer Josh Rhodes is investigating.
