MORGANTOWN -
An accident shut down both northbound lanes on I-79 Tuesday night, backing up traffic for nearly a mile.
Around 9:40 Tuesday night, a car traveling northbound was sideswiped.
The vehicle was sent into the guardrails where driver lost control of the vehicle spinning back across traffic.
Both people inside the vehicle were transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, with unknown injuries.
The accident occurred around mile marker 147, just between the Goshen Road exit and I-68 split.
Police are still investigating, but are looking for information on the vehicle involved in the incident. If you have any information call the Monongalia County Sheriff's department at 304.291.7260.
