Marion County Woman Investigating Paranormal Activity

Posted: Updated:

"In West Virginia, we actually, especially in the Fairmont area, are really fortunate to be close to two of the most haunted iconic locations in the country which would be Moundsville Penitentiary and the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston," said paranormal investigator Jordan Murphy.

Murphy's paranormal investigations landed her a spot on the Travel Channel's new show, Paranormal Challenge.

The season wrapped up in September but Murphy continues her research with two different paranormal groups.

She said it can be a tricky topic to talk about with people who are skeptical.

"The one downfall to paranormal investigating is not everybody is open to it," Murphy said.  "So, there are a lot of locations that do have stories of paranormal phenomena attached to them.

But, some of those people won't let you come in and investigate because there's such a taboo attached."

She said all of her paranormal experiences have been very real; disembodied voices, apparitions, and intense energies that can only be describe as something of the supernatural.

She said her time on the Travel Channel did open some of her friend's minds as to what she does.

She said she's trying to make a usually 'taboo' subject something people can openly discuss.

"I think when you have a product you can show people and say, 'look what I did.' and you can show them good, solid evidence, a lot of people I know that had no interest in it before have started to really ask me questions about stuff now. It's kind of peaked their interest in it," Murphy said.
