Chief Fire Marshal for the City of Morgantown Ken Tennant determines the cause of a house fire that occurred Monday on Diamond Ave. in Morgantown to be accidental.
Officials said one of the residents of the house was cooking on a gas grill in the front yard when the safety valve malfunctioned.
This caused the propane tank to explode onto the house and car, setting both on fire, officials said.
South Middle School is collecting donations for the family that was affected by the fire.
Principal at South Middle School said the family that was affected by the fire has found alternate living but is still in need of common household items such as towels, cleaning supplies, linens, etc.
Those wishing to donate can drop off items at South Middle School.

Morgantown Fire Department is investigating a house fire that occurred Monday.
The fire occurred at 166 Diamond Ave. in Morgantown.
The Morgantown Fire Department responded and had the fire under control within a half an hour, officials said.
The house contained three different apartments. Officials said four people were inside the home when the fire started.
Most of the damage from the fire was to the front side of the house, along with the first, second floor and attic, officials said.
The four residents made it out safely but one person sustained minor burns.
The fire also spread to a vehicle that was parked outside and the fire damaged power lines overhead.
Mon Power was on the scene taking care of the power line that was damaged.
Morgantown Fire Department has not determined the official cause of the fire but said there is nearly $100,000 in damage.
One occupant told firefighters that they believed the fire started from a propane grill that was on the front porch, officials said.
Morgantown Fire Department will continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
