Sears Call Center Closes in Morgantown

Posted: Updated:

A Sears call center in Morgantown shut its doors Tuesday.

The location in the Morgantown Industrial Park had about 66 full- and part-time employees who were notified of the shutdown Tuesday.

A Sears representative said the closure was part of the 2010 call volume forecast for the home improvement division and is not related to the scheduled closing of Sears and K-Mart stores across the country.

A representative said the Morgantown operations are being consolidated with another office in Worthington, OH. Employees will receive 60 days pay and then those who qualify will receive severance packages.

Sears will offer on-site outplacement counseling, and help finding other jobs both within Sears and elsewhere.
