Water Line Extension Project Coming to Tucker County

PARSONS -

The city of Parsons is working on a water line extension project for two communities in Tucker County.

The city will add 54 customers from the Moore and Porterwood areas and pay for the four-point-two mile water line extension with a small cities block grant of more than $1 million.

Residents said they've been waiting for clean water for more than 15 years.

Council member Tim Auvil said the city should be ready to put the project out for bid by Spring.

"So with it being fully funded we're finished with the engineering phase of it, we're getting our easements, and once that part is 80 percent complete then we can continue with the bidding process," said Auvil.

"We had iron water and some of them had water that wasn't really fit to drink, and the wells would go dry in the summer months, and we just really needed the water really bad in these two areas," said Linda Eye, Porterwood resident.
