Businessman Bill Maloney Announces Plans to Run for Governor

Posted: Updated:

The race for governor of West Virginia will look pretty familiar this fall with the addition of Republican businessman Bill Maloney.

Maloney announced that he will run for office again at 'Ruby and Ketchy's Restaurant' at Cheat Lake.

Maloney won the republican primary in last year's special election but lost the seat to Democrat Earl Ray Tomblin.

Maloney will use a few of the things he learned in that race this time around.

"Hopefully we'll have some more time to get throughout the whole state, get out and meet people like we're doing here today and once people get to know me, we'll get those 3,500 votes we need to win," Maloney said.

Maloney will file his candidacy papers Thursday in Charleston.
