Glenville State is led by three players: Mishae Miles, Tenisha Wilson and Danielle Woodmore. Each of the three can score, but since there's only one basketball, they learn to deal.
"It's always hard being a point guard just because you can't get everybody exactly when you want it. But I guess as the game progresses you just start to see people just left and right so it just becomes a habit," Pioneer point guard Danielle Woodmore said.
"Well I feed off my teammates, they give me the open look, Tenisha and Danielle. They hit me for the open pass whenever I'm open. If I miss I'm going right back up trying to get the ball back for us," Glenville State forward Mishae Miles said.
"If I make eye contact with here then most of the time I feel like I'll get it. But if I don't, then I just let her be her," Pioneer guard Tenisha Wilson said.
The lady Pioneers were picked to win the WVIAC. But a rough stretch to open the season derailed their hopes, at least for the time being. But this team has since ripped off five straight wins thanks to the incredible play of Woodmore, Wilson and Miles.
"She (Woodmore) does a good job playing off Wilson and Wilson does a good job playing off Miles. I do like the fact that one is good on the block, one can shoot a little bit and it great at getting to the rim, and Woodmore has a better shot then people realize and she's so quick," Glenville State head coach Bunky Harkleroad said.
Wilson is fourth in the league in scoring, Woodmore tops the conference in assists and Miles leads the league in field goal percentage. If you add it all up the Pioneers could be marching on to a WVIAC Championship.
