BUCKHANNON -
The city of Buckhannon is heading back to the drawing board with its plans to expand its wireless network.
The expansion would have let police officers access data from their patrol cars and sanitation workers could have read meters with a new device.
The plan is still in the works, but city council will re-work the proposal and ask for new bids.
"If we put the specs out and we include in those specifications this level of security so that we know we have these two different vendors who are actually providing a quote to the city or a bid to the city for the same thing, an apples to apples comparison then we'll be better informed, better able to make a good decision," said Mayor Kenny Davidson.
The network currently links the fire, water, and other departments to share information about streets, water pipes even cemetery plots.
