On Tuesday, a family found four puppies and one dog with gunshot wounds to the head in Rachel.
Two of the puppies died in Rachel.
The other three were taken to Middletown Animal Clinic but had to be put down.
Detectives have been assigned to the case and are actively searching for the person responsible.
