
Glenville State's Mishae Miles and Fairmont State's Hailey Garrett share this week's WVIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award.
Senior Miles helped Glenville to two wins this past week. The Lady Pioneers are currently the top women's basketball team in the WVIAC standings. The Chicago native scored 14 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in GSC's 88-80 win over Wesleyan. Miles was 9-11 from the field against Charleston, scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds as Glenville picked up a revenge win on the Golden Eagles. The forward also blocked on shot and recorded two steals in that game.
Freshman Garrett, a Marion County native and North Marion graduate helped Fairmont State continue it's win streak, picking up three victories over the past week. Garrett averaged almost 20 points over the three games. She shot 28-37 from the floor and grabbed 24 rebounds. Against WV State Garrett scored 20 points and had six rebounds. In the Seton Hill game the rookie scored a career-high (at FSU) 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and four steals. Against Wheeling Jesuit it was 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
The WVIAC noted WVWC's Lydia Bridenbaugh as another top performer on the week.
