FSU's Snyder Ties NCAA Mark

FAIRMONT -

We talk about the WVIAC all the time, but one point we may not get across is that the league is one of the most respected Division II conferences in the country.

That's because there is a lot of talent in the WVIAC.

Need proof?

Fairmont State junior Kaitlin Snyder is the fifth leading scorer in all of Division II women's basketball.

She might even jump up a few spots after the statistics are updated because Monday night against Davis & Elkins, Snyder scored 42 points for the Lady Falcons.

That ties this season's NCAA single-game scoring record. Another player scored 42 earlier this season.

But to Snyder, it's just not big deal.

"That's nice. I didn't know that so it's good to know," commented Snyder. "I'm just happy that we got the win, you know. They were number six, we were number five and I'm sure that's going to help us later on in the season, it's winding down so hopefully that will either give us some more points and make us go to fourth or third and just give us more confidence throughout the rest of the season."
