West Liberty solidified a third-straight WVIAC regular season championship Monday night with a big win over Alderson-Broaddus, but there's a new shakeup in the rest of the conference standings.
The Glenville State College men's basketball team had to give back three conference wins due to, "impermissibly allowed an ineligible student-athlete to participate in contests on January 14, January 17 and January 21, 2012," according to a press release from the conference.
Those games will now be considered forfeited wins for the opposing teams. The wins are only for the purpose of the WVIAC standings. Meaning, it will not change the team's record according to the NCAA. Changing the wins in the league standings is important because it recalculates the WVIAC's Power Rating system and effects the seeding for the conference tournament.
The WVIAC also noted, "The matter has been reported to the NCAA for action by the Enforcement and Championship staffs."
