Marion County Circuit Court arraignments were held in Fairmont on Thursday.

The courts are keeping busy this term.  The Marion County Grand Jury indicted 49 people this term.

Brian Merchant, 49, was arraigned on five felony counts including first degree robbery.

Merchant robbed the Democrat club, stabbed two people and led authorities on a high speed chase within a matter of hours in November, according to Fairmont Police.

Craig Jones, 20, was arraigned on first degree robbery and conspiracy charges.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department said Jones and a juvenile robbed a pizza delivery man at gunpoint in front of the Kingmont Post Office in December.

Kenneth Rager, 22, faces malicious wounding, domestic battery, and domestic assault charges.

 The Fairmont Police said Rager beat up his pregnant girlfriend and caused her to go into premature labor in November.

Doctors had to perform an emergency cesarean section to save the baby.

Kenneth Sinclair and Zachary Stemple, both 22, were both arraigned on robbery and conspiracy charges.

Deputies said the pair tried to steal prescription drugs and money from an apartment on Vista Hooks Drive in December.

Thomas Hewitt, 51, was arraigned on a charge of threats of terrorist acts.  Hewitt threatened to kill some of his co-workers at Dry Cleaning World on Fairmont Avenue, according to Fairmont Police.

Arraignments will continue on Monday, Feb. 27.
