The Barbour County Sheriff's Department has arrested a Belington man after responding to a 911 call of a possible altercation.
Upon arrival, deputies said they found Robert Lee Frederick, 47, chasing a man with a baseball bat.
Frederick also had a loaded handgun, which he threw over the embankment, which was recovered by deputies.
Deputies said the reason for the altercation is unclear but the victim was unharmed.
Frederick was charged with possession of a controlled substance and illegally possessing a firearm. Frederick is a convicted felon and by law cannot possess firearms.
Deputies searched Frederick's home and found several more firearms.
Frederick is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on $30,000 bond.
