A fire in Lumberport early Friday morning sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Lumberport Fire Department said the Grand Avenue home of Gary and Kathy Stout caught fire when a lit cigarette ignited oxygen in use at the house.

Authorities said Gary Stout was life-flighted from the scene around 6 a.m. with serious burns, while four or five others in the home escaped safely.

The home was a total loss.
