BUCKHANNON -
The Upshur County Commission will hold a public hearing to consider submitting an application to finance a portion of a water extension project.
The $5 million project would add water service to 164 households from the Arlington area of Upshur County to the Cleveland community in Webster County, it would also include customers along Indian Camp Road.
Adrian PSD is looking for a small cities block grant portion of $1.3 million.
It's already been awarded more than $1 million by the USDA Rural Utility Service, $200,000 from Joe Manchin, and it will borrow the remaining funds from the state.
Adrian PSD Office Manager Nina Monroe said 80 percent of potential customers need to pay a tap fee of $100, and sign a water users agreement in for the project to be approved.
The hearing is scheduled for Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m. in the county commission office.
