Morgantown Church Prepares For Mardi Gras Lunch

MORGANTOWN -

The Wesley United Methodist Church is busy preparing for their second annual Mardi Gras lunch.

The Morgantown church will hold a community lunch Sunday afternoon featuring Cajun food like jambalaya, gumbo, potato salad, cornbread, and king cake.

The meal starts at 12:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The church is accepting donations that will go directly to the Stop Hunger Now program.

"There are so many needs out there, and if we stay in our nice, little, beautiful church and we're not involved, where is the message of Christ?" said event coordinator Karen King. "We need to make sure we're involved, and we look like we're trying to help, not that we think we have all the answers, but we have to have be an open door."

Wesley United Methodist is working with local rotary clubs in raising money for Stop Hunger now. Last year, the clubs were able to assemble more than 27,000 meals.
