The West Virginia High School Swim Meet finished up Friday in Morgantown. In the morning, the girls took to the pool and represented North Central West Virginia very well.
In the afternoon session it was the boys turn to dive in and show their stuff. Out of the eleven championship heats, only one would be claimed by a athlete from our area.
Frank Csonka of Bridgeport won the lone state championship as he swam the fastest 50 Yard Freestyle in the state.
There were some other close finishers including Notre Dame freshman Jake Preaskorn, but the names of the day were South Charleston's Austin Green as he broke a state record in the 100 Yard Breaststroke and won the 100 Yard Freestyle
The teams from the Charleston area basically swept the top five team awards.
George Washington finished first, Bridgeport finished second with 130 points, Charleston Catholic, Hurricane and South Charleston rounded out the top five.
