The United Way of Randolph County's second annual "Live United Telethon" was a big success this weekend.
The United Way said it hoped to raise $25,000 in 12 hours. It met that goal and then some.
"Had a telethon goal of 25,000," said Andrea Thompson, United Way of Randolph County. "We hit that at around 7 of the telethon, so we thought we'd up the Annie to 30,000. And with about 30 seconds left we had an anonymous donor who put us over the top so we were a little over 30,000."
The telethon also helped the United Way of Randolph County meet its annual campaign goal of $165,000.
