Barbour County fire officials responded to a structure fire in Philippi Monday night.
Philippi, Belington, and Junior Fire Departments responded to the fire on South Main Street, across from the Hardee's, just before 9 p.m.
Firefighters say two houses caught fire. They said they think at least one of the houses was vacant and the other was a rental. Firefighters said they believe they've accounted for everyone who lived there.
Witnesses said one of the houses burned to the ground.
