Lots of people here depend on groundwater for their water supply and the National Groundwater Association wants them to know how to keep that water safe.

It will dedicate a week in March to well water awareness and has created a website, wellowner.org, as a resource.

The association said the website is a manual on how to maintain, test and treat your water if necessary.

But it also reminds everyone, not just well owners, to do their part is keeping water clean:

"Properly use, store and dispose of hazardous household substances, which could be anything from used motor oil to paint, paint thinner, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers."

You can learn more by visiting the new site set up by the National Groundwater Association, at wellowner.org.
