CLARKSBURG -
Susan Collins's future as superintendent in Harrison County was the big issue at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting.
Two weeks ago, the Board voted to extend Collins's contract. Last week, a Facebook message called for people to come out to Tuesday's meeting and ask the board to reconsider its decision.
While some stood against Collins, most of the night's speakers supported her.
"They're the people out there, every day that make it happen," Collins said. "It's not me, it's the people out there, and I can't say enough how I appreciate their support and knowing that I have their backing makes me feel good about myself, and more importantly, the students and what's happening in Harrison County."
Collins has been a part of the school system for more than 30 years.
Her contract will run through the 2014 school year.
