FAIRMONT -
The Fairmont Area Swim Team and Fairmont State university held their eighth annual "Swim for Life" fundraiser for the American Cancer Society on Tuesday.
Swimmers of all ages jumped into the pool, swimming laps and raising money.
Participants could swim up to 200 laps, raising money for the fight against cancer, and raising the hopes of cancer survivors.
"As a cancer survivor I think of all the people who participated before, so that I could be a survivor, and tonight they're setting up a future for hundreds, maybe thousands of people to be survivors," said cancer survivor Dixie Yann.
Half the money raised tonight will go back to the Fairmont Area Swim Team, and the other half, to the American Cancer Society.
Last year, the event raised more than $4,000 for the American Cancer Society.
