The Marion County Commission has agreed to buy a new "Jaws of Life" for the Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
Emergency workers struggled recently to pry passengers out of a vehicle involved in an accident on Interstate 79.
The new Genesis machine will cost $30,000 and is the most powerful one on the market.
It will be housed at the Valley VFD in Pleasant Valley because of its close proximity to the interstate.
"The reason why they've been chosen is because they have the most accidents because they're right along the interstate," said Guy Ward, Marion County Commission. "They have the most need for it, but it will be a county-wide thing. Anytime it's needed in the county, they will go to that accident and use it."
Ward said there were 281 accidents on I-79 in Marion County last year.
