Last December, the Jane Lew Community Center needed 20 thousand dollars in repairs in order to stay open.

Since then, volunteers have worked to get the center back on its feet.

On Tuesday, Consol Energy donated $2,500 to the community center.  This grant finalized the funding needed to complete the repairs for the facility to meet fire code requirements, preventing the community center from closing its doors.

"It is a humbling community. It is the place where people can go with their family, with their friends for any type of meeting, celebration, or event they'd like to have," said Bill White, Board President of the Jane Lew Community Center.

For Consol Energy, their donation was a mutual benefit that all members of the community deserve.

"We have a lot of residents, employees that work here in Jane Lew, that are residents of this area," said Kent Wright of Consol Energy, "so they have a vested interest and we have a vested interest, so we want to be good community partners too."

Future projects include painting and work on the center's storage room, handrails, and stairs, which should take about a month to complete.
