BUCKHANNON -

The Upshur County Commission heard about recycling and littering on Thursday.

The commission heard from the Upshur County Solid Waste Authority on what it's doing to make the community litter free and environmentally safe.

The solid waste authority provides recycling opportunities like the recycling center at the Crossroads Center near the Buckhannon Wal Mart.

It said residents should take advantage of recycling and dispose of their items properly.

The authority will hold a recycling celebration on April 13 and 14.

The commission also approved a proclamation to make April "Make It Shine Month."
