Three people were arrested and charged with operating a heroin house in Portsmouth, Ohio, according to the Scioto County Sheriff's Department.

The Southern Ohio Drug Task Force received a tip that drug activity was going on at the home of William T. Williams, 47, of 3556 ½ Pleasant Ave. Williams was already on house arrest, according to the news release.

Detectives found Williams along with six other adults inside, the news release states. They seized heroin, hypodermic syringes with heroin, and drug paraphernalia. Williams was charged with violating probation. Kayla M. Johnson, 26, of 6735 Harding Ave., Sciotoville, Ohio, was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant. Keith Chaffins, 30, of 561 Shepherds Fork Road, West Portsmouth, Ohio, was charged with felony possession of heroin.

The three were put in the Scioto County Jail. Chaffins was to be arraigned in Portsmouth Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Williams and Johnson are awaiting appearances before a Portsmouth Municipal Court Judge.
