MORGANTOWN -

The West Virginia University Bowling and Billiards Clubs have teamed up to fight Muscular Dystrophy.

The Bowling Club held its annual bowling tournament, the Jerry L. Shrewsberry Memorial Tournament, Saturday.

In 1998, the brother of a former billiards club president passed away after losing his fight to Muscular Dystrophy. In his honor the club bowls for him raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

"Just to raise awareness of it. Like you said, there is not a lot of people that know about it. It's good to get people involved and help them out, get donations," said Tony Smith of the WVU Bowling Club.

Almost 20 bowlers took to the Mountainlair's lanes this Saturday.

Last weekend the WVU Billiards Club held a tournament as well. Between the two event, organizers believe they raised about $300.
