Weston's State Police Detachment Welcomes New Member

Posted: Updated:

West Virginia State Police has a new Mountaineer among its forces.

Former WVU football player Zachary Cooper had his first day on the job at Weston's state police detachment.

Cooper is a Weirton native, and said last week's incident in Elkins didn't rattle him in his decision to become a state trooper.

"That's what you sign up for out there," Cooper said. "Protection the citizens of WV, that's why you do the job."

Cooper spent seven months at the state police academy and now has three training in the field.
