A Monongalia County Shooting Range is now closed until further notice due to continued vandalism.
The Pedlar Run Wildlife Management Area has operated a public shooting range designed for hunters but it has been abused by shooters using recreational shooting arms.
The Division of Natural Resources made the decision to shut it down because it does not have the manpower to have someone monitor it daily.
"And they shoot up everything other what they're supposed to shoot up," said Frank Jezioro, Director of the DNR. "They shoot the posts that hold up the roof of the range. They shoot holes in the range. We've seen instances where they are shooting towards the lake where people are fishing. And then we had a person shoot completely over the ridge top."
The range has now become a safety issue and the DNR is looking at different ways to prevent the vandalism but there is no timeline on when it may reopen.
