The time has finally come for veteran Jamie Summerlin to return to the West Virginia on his 100 day run for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Friday is Day 82 and Summerlin and his wife Tiffany are in Kentucky.

Saturday Summerlin will step foot in West Virginia for the first time since leaving for Oregon back in March.

The Summerlins have endured a minor leg injury, the theft of their laundry, extreme climate changes and so much more.

They said their hardships are symbolic of what our troops face every day.

"It's exactly our men and women are going through every day," Summerlin said. "They have injuries, whether it be physical or be mental issues, from the PTSD issues and things that they're dealing with everyday. And I wanted people to try to capture that through this and understand that no matter what we're going to push through. We have this will power within ourselves to make things happen and when we have the support and encouragement of not only our family but our friends and community around us, it helps us get through those times."

Summerlin will be reunited with his two sons on Sunday for Father's Day and he'll throw out the first pitch at the West Virginia Power game.

We will have coverage of Jamie's homecoming so stay tuned to 12 News.
