The Philip Barbour volleyball team has been a model of consistency over the last decade. The Lady Colts have been to the state tournament each and every year. With the kind of players the Lady Colts have coming back, Philip Barbour's poised to make that 11 years and counting.
The team has been keeping busy with tournaments and camps. The Colts just returned from the Marshall University's volleyball camp last week.
Philip Barbour gets quite a bit accomplished during the three week summer practice period, using camp experience to help with team bonding.
The Colts lost in the second round of the state tournament last season and believe if they can correct their hitting and blocking during the summer, then they'll be an even stronger team this fall.
"We get a lot out of it," said senior Brooke Depoy. "We get to work with the new girls and we get used to playing together and just really loosen up from sitting all off season and just getting used to each other."
"We're having a home tournament next week on Wednesday," said junior Nikki Shriver. "We aren't going as a team to another camp. Some of us are going to hitting camps, blocking camps, setting camps, individual camps."
