In an earlier story covered by 12Sports, viewers were introduced to Nick Casey, Taekwondo instructor at Casey's ATA Black Belt Academy in Bridgeport. Casey was preparing for the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) World Championships.

On Thursday, June 21 Casey competed in Combat Weapons Sparring at the ATA World Championships in Arkansas. He will be bringing a bronze medal back to West Virginia.

Casey is the first competitor from West Virginia to compete at the ATA World Championships as a Top 10 athlete. His third place finish makes him the first competitor from the state to medal.
