A body was recovered Thursday afternoon at Seneca Rocks in Pendleton County, according to West Virginia State Police.

It was discovered around 1:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon, officials said.

First Sgt. J.B. Utt, of the Elkins detachment of W.Va. State Police, said they believe the person is from the northern panhandle or Wheeling area.

Crew members had to use climbing gear and a stokes basket to recover the body due to the difficult terrain, officials said.

The body has been sent to the state medical examiner's office in Charleston for positive identification. No foul play is suspected.

The Franklin detachment of the W.Va. State Police is handling the investigation.
