MORGANTOWN -
After hours of hard work, hundreds of athletes crossed the finish line Sunday in the eighth annual Mountaineer Triathlon and Duathlon.
Competitors swam, biked and ran throughout Morgantown and Monongalia County.
The race drew attention from athletes across the country. Many train for the moment when they cross the finish line.
"That's always goal number one, I don't care what level you are at. Just to cross that finish line, that's a big part of why we do it, just the accomplishment," said Nathan Kile, a competitor for Morgantown Multisport's team.
A number of races took place Sunday.
The longest event, the Half Iron man Triathlon consisted of a 1.2 mile swim in the Monongahela River, a 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run. The Winner in that event completed the course in just under 5 minutes, 15 seconds.
