The Clay-Battelle High School girls basketball team is one of several local participants in a summer league that Fairmont Senior hosts. During the three week summer practice period the summer league is especially important because that is the only opportunity that coaches have to work with their teams, in a game situation, before the start of the season in November.
The CeeBees may be a class "A" team going up against bigger schools in summer league games, but the CeeBees hold their own.
Head Coach David Price is heading into his second season but it's the first summer he's worked with the team.
The Clay-Battelle team has played in plenty of tournaments, according to Coach Price, so it looked good when summer drills started.
Coach Price said he's more of a defensive coach but he's working on a balance between defense and offense. The progress during summer drills has been good so far.
"I think we're coming together to try and learn what each other does and try to find our strength and start playing to them," said Coach Price. "It's a slow process and small time frame, but I do think we're heading in the right direction."
