The Lewis County girls basketball team had a rough year in 2011. The Minutemaids are trying to rebuild from the top, with the addition of a brand new head coach and an exciting philosophy.
It all starts in the three week practice period.
The hopes are now pretty high for Lewis County in the summer and upcoming season. Tarra Sherrard takes over the reigns as the new head coach and she emphasized her team has been working extremely hard during the three week summer practice period.
Coach Sherrard thinks it's especially important to get back to the basics. Sherrard has had the Minutemaids focusing on the fundamentals of the game for the past few weeks.
Sherrard believes her team has a chance to be good down the line.
"We've actually kept it pretty simple. We've worked on our fundamentals and just basic drills, ball handling, shooting and conditioning. I want to run a fast paced offense and be aggressive. So I really want the girls to be in shape," said Coach Sherrard.
