After the three week high school summer practice period is all said and done, teams will have to wait until the season starts to get together with the coaching staffs again. Fall sports won't have to wait long but winter sports will.
The University High School girls basketball team took advantage of the allotted practice period with practices and playing in the Fairmont Summer League.
The Lady Hawks will have star player Mariah Callen back this year and she showed skill and improvement in summer league games.
It is a short period of time, but University coaches said the best thing about the practice period is that it's an opportunity to introduce the freshman to the program.
University always sets the bar high, the team just has to get to that bar.
