State Police Respond to Interstate Accident Near Morgantown

The West Virginia State Police is investigating a two car accident on Interstate 79 in Monongalia County.

The accident happened just after 2 p.m. Monday, about a mile before the interchange with Interstate 68. 

State Police said a Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by James Bombard of Fairmont, lost control while traveling northbound and crossed into the path of another northbound vehicle, a Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by Brandon Warren, of Orlando, Florida.

After the crash, both vehicles traveled off the roadway where they struck the cable median barrier.

Bombard was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.

Traffic on the interstate was backed up for about two miles.
