MORGANTOWN -

The summer season is the perfect time for high school basketball players to work on their game. It also turns out to be a great time for college coaches to check out some potential recruits.

Once again Morgantown played host to yet another AAU basketball tournament on Friday.

The Morgantown Jam Fest took center stage over the last two days, but on Friday it was all about the Hoop Fest in the University City.

The Hoop Fest is put on by a company called Elevate Hoops and is a certified NCAA Live Event for college coaches to attend.

West Virginia University was represented by assistant coaches. Ohio State head coach Thad Matta was also said to be in attendance during the evening games.

Tournament director Robert Engamenn said the AAU circuit is a great way for the public to catch the next big stars in the college game.

"It's good seeing the kids before they're big time because then you can connect with them," Hoop Fest tournament director Robert Engemann said. "It's nice so people can say they saw him when he was a junior or saw him when he was a senior. It helps for the casual basketball fan."
