Alderson-Broaddus College has increased its enrollment by 300 per cent.

The college hosted a town hall meeting Tuesday morning to let residents in Philippi know how its growth will affect them.

President Rick Creehan talked to residents and business owners about the college's plan for continued growth and the opportunities it will create.

"Our residence halls are full," said Tonya Shelton of Alderson-Broaddus College. "We're actually slated to start breaking ground for a new residence hall. We're bringing in new faculty and staff. It creates a need for more housing in the community."

"Philippi is going to have a lot more people running around the streets and going into the businesses and eating at the restaurant especially when we get the football team. 150 football players. Mom and Dads going to want to come in and they're going to need a place to stay, they're going to need a place to eat and we just want to make sure since we have such a great relationship with the community, that they're aware of that," said Ashley Mittelmeier of Alderson-Broaddus College.

A-B's Football team will play as a club team this year and will move into its brand new stadium next year.
