The release of the 2012 WVIAC Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll is the last of the fall sports.
Wheeling Jesuit claims the top spot, earning all but one of the first place votes. The Cardinals have won the last four conference tournaments and the last three regular season championships. WJU is also ranked No. 25 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Poll. Wheeling Jesuit collected 224 points in the WVIAC poll.
Alderson-Broaddus is picked to finish second in the WVIAC with 192 total points. The Lady Battlers received eight second place votes.
Seton Hill is third in the poll with 178 points. The Griffins earned four second place votes and four third place nods.
Shepherd is ranked fourth with 172 points. The Rams received the final first place vote and two third place votes.
West Virginia Wesleyan rounds out the top five, earning two third place votes and three fourth place nods. The Lady Bobcats totaled 163 points.
The other three local WVIAC volleyball squads sit in decent positions on the preseason poll.
Fairmont State is ranked sixth, Davis & Elkins 11th and Glenville State 14th.
