FAIRMONT -

Fairmont State welcomed in its newest university president Saturday with the inauguration of Dr. Maria Rose.

A West Virginia native, Dr. Rose is the 14th president of Fairmont State.

Rose a Fairmont alumna has spent more than 20 years at Fairmont State and was selected as interim president in 2011. Dr. Rose said she's honored to officially take over as president of the school she's loved for many years.

"We, at this university change lives," said Dr. Rose. "No matter how big we think our jobs are, how little we think our jobs are, everything we do at this university has an impact on our students."

In August 2011, Dr. Rose was selected as interim President for Dr. Thomas Krepel who resigned after serving less than two years as president.
