Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, D-W.Va., held a news conference Wednesday morning following the fatal shooting in Clay County that left one W.Va. State Trooper dead and another in critical condition.

Tomblin expressed how deeply moved he was throughout the night by the amount of police officers who were at Charleston Area Medical Center showing support for the four families of the shooting victims.

"I was deeply moved by the amount of police officers who were at the hospital last night showing support for the families of the individuals who were shot," said Tomblin.

"The families were supporting each other," said Tomblin. "This one mother said this is what he did, this is what he's always wanted to do.

"To have the outpouring of support from police officers for the whole region coming in there last night supporting the families I think was really comforting to the family members."

According to Tomblin, as of last night one of the officers is in critical condition.
