The Doddridge County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting that happened Monday around 6 p.m. at a home on Mastons Road near Route 18 in West Union.

Three people are dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victims of the shooting were Dixie Spencer, her husband Frederick and their 9-year-old daughter, according to the Doddridge County Sheriff's Department.

Dixie Spencer was a 7th grade teacher at Ritchie County Middle School, according to the Ritchie County Schools Superintendent's Office.

The 16-year-old juvenile suspect, who is the son of Dixie and Frederick, has been arrested and is awaiting a pre-trial hearing. The sheriff's department said he will be charged with three counts of first degree murder.

Doddridge County Prosecuting Attorney Brooke Fitzgerald will decide whether to try the juvenile as an adult, according to the sheriff's department.

The Doddridge County Sheriff's Department will be collecting and analyzing all information and evidence in this case.

Doddridge County School officials said schools offered counseling services to students and faculty on Tuesday.

Obituaries for the Spencer family can be found here.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 8 at 2 p.m. in the T. Edward Davis Gymnasium at Salem International University.
