UPDATE: Morgantown Police Department Investigating Malicious Wounding Incident

The Morgantown Police Department has identified two individuals in connection with the early morning attack of John Baylor on September 12, according to the police department.

Police said Khalil Taylor and a 17-year-old juvenile, allegedly attacked Baylor as he walked along Grant Avenue in Sunnyside.

Interviews conducted by Morgantown detectives following the incident revealed that the motivation behind the crime was personal in nature, rather than a random act of violence, according to the police department.

Police said the juvenile was remanded to state custody pending hearing and warrants have been issued for Taylor for malicious wounding and conspiracy.

The Morgantown Police Department is investigating a malicious wounding incident in Morgantown Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. in the Sunnyside area of Morgantown.

The victim, John Baylor, 21, told police that he was attacked by two black males on Grant Avenue near Summit Hall, according to a news release from the police department.

Baylor stated that he was walking on the street when he noticed that he was being followed by two men, according to the news release.

Police said Baylor walked up to a residence when the two men pulled him back and struck him repeatedly with objects Baylor believed were tire irons.

Police said nothing was taken during the attack.

Baylor was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police said Baylor described the attackers as two black men wearing red hooded sweatshirts, and that one of the men appeared to be "cross-eyed".
