A Stonewall Jackson impersonator explained his role in West Virginia's statehood.
Some local folks turned out Thursday afternoon for a protest against Marcellus Shale drilling in Doddridge County.
They met at the intersection of Morgan's Run Road and Route 50 across the road a drilling platform.
Thursday's protest was one of several across the country for the "Global Frackdown" initiative.
Organizers said the consequences of fracking outweigh its benefits for many landowners.
"There's very little that an individual landowner can do about it and so our property values are being destroyed by this industry, and our quality of life is really suffering from it, too," said organizer Autumn Long.
The group also attended a presentation in West Union about efforts to stop fracking in Wetzel County after the protest was over.
