The Alderson-Broaddus football team picked up its fourth straight win on Monday. The Battlers beat the Waynesburg University JV team 42-0.
A-B definitely got off on the right foot. Thomas Handy returned the opening kickoff 87-yards for a score. It was Handy's second touchdown of the season. He did the exact same thing against Kentucky Christian. About halfway through the first quarter A-B quarterback Matt Hommell hit Isaac Silafau on a 17-yard route for a score, giving the Battlers a 14-0 lead. Handy scored his third touchdown as he ran in score to give A-B a 21-0 advantage. Just before halftime quarterback Wilson Vaughn found Tyrone Temoney on a 45-yard pitch and catch that went all the way for a touchdown and a 28-0 lead.
In the second half the Battlers score twice more as Vaughn hit Joshua Lee on a 14-yard scoring pass and handed off to Douglas Wesson for a rushing touchdown.
The Battler defense held Waynesburg to less than 100 yards of offense.
Vaughn was 7-11 for 149 yards and two scores. Hommell finished 5-9 for 81 yards and one score.
Wesson rushed for 43 yards on four carries while Handy and Brandon Jones both recorded 49 yards.
Temoney totaled 70 receiving yards and Jamain Sherman had 45.
